Position Summary

Iskalo Development, a full-service Real Estate Development Company, is looking for a dynamic Hospitality Controller to join our team.  The Hospitality Controller is responsible for all aspects of financial management and reporting for Iskalo Development’s Amherst Hospitality Campus which includes the Reikart House Boutique Hotel, Jazzboline Restaurant, Bar and Ballroom and the Amherst Hyatt Place hotel. The ideal candidate excels in the hospitality industry and accounting, enjoys operating in a fast-paced environment, communicates professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Minimum of five years’ hospitality-related accounting or asset-management experience
  • Strong, detail-oriented thinker with understanding of hospitality-related finance transactions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including exceptional Excel skills
  • Proficient user of accounting software
  • Professional level of verbal and written communication
Responsibilities
  • Budgets and Tracking:
    • Responsible for all aspects of financial management, internal controls, accounting, and financial reporting and deliverables for the Amherst Hospitality Campus.
    • Works closely with the corporate management team to timely prepare annual expense budgets; track actual performance versus budget throughout the year, providing regular reports to include variance analysis
    • Oversee month-end close processes including balancing, month-end reports, and reconciliation and accuracy of all ledgers
    • Participate in monthly review of financial statements and review of all general ledger account classifications with General Manager
    • Ensure accurate and timely monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and research on financial questions as appropriate
    • Perform analysis of budget-to-actual variations and ensure accuracy of physical counts, pricing and related worksheets
    • Oversee daily and monthly reconciliation of any filing of sales and occupancy tax requirements
  • Administration:
    • Act as liaison to outside accounting firms preparing tax returns in addition to audits and advisory services, ensuring information provided is accurate and timely
    • Establish, or recommend to management major corporate accounting strategies, objectives, and policies for the company
    • Create and implement internal audit SOPs and standards with corporate approval
    • Lead, direct, and manage staff accountants
    • Provide direction and training to hotel operational team in areas related to financial reports, internal controls, standard operating procedures, expense controls, and payroll
    • Develop and maintain relationships with staff in all operational areas of the organization

Salary

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000 – $100,000 per year
