Senior Manager – Interior Architecture

Position Summary

The Senior Manager – Interior Architecture (“Sr.  Manager”) shall lead Iskalo Development’s interior architectural design for Tenant Suites as well as the architectural interior design for public spaces/common areas that are part of new and renovation building projects.  Sr. Manager will be expected to self-perform key architectural interior tasks as well as to manage the Iskalo Architectural Interiors team.  Key objective of the Sr. Manager position is to ensure that interior architectural designs prepared are fresh and adaptive to current work environments and that services of the Architectural Interiors team are delivered accurately and within pre-established design fee budgets and timelines. 

  • Master’s in Architecture preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture required
  • NCIDQ certification preferred
  • Seven to ten years’ full time architectural experience including three to five years in commercial interior architectural design involving direct customer contact and responsibility
  • Understanding of and ability to manage full range of project phases taking projects from inception through construction completion with emphasis on Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Document and Services during construction phases
  • Professional style of verbal and written communication
  • High proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Meet with internal or external customers to establish rapport and gather information regarding client needs and ideas. Research and analysis of customer’s goals, objectives, and requirements, develop documents, drawings and diagrams that outline those needs
  • Formulate preliminary space plans together with 2- and 3-dimensional design concept studies and sketches that integrate the customer’s program needs, sound interior architectural design methods and human behavior. Confirm that preliminary space plans and design concepts are functional, aesthetically appropriate and meet all public health, safety, and welfare requirements including building codes, accessibility, environmental, and sustainability guidelines
  • Select colors, materials and finishes to appropriately covey the design concept for the space (and within the context of the building overall, if applicable) and to meet functional, maintenance, life-cycle environmental, and safety requirements
  • Engage with and coordinate work to be completed by outside professional design and engineering consultants as may be necessary for a particular assignment including to structural, MEP and various specialty consultants
  • When applicable, select and specify furniture, fixtures, equipment, and millwork, including layout drawings and detailed product descriptions, and provide contract documents to facilitate pricing, procurement, and installation of furniture
  • Prepare/assemble complete set of construction documents consisting of plans, elevations, details, and specifications that illustrate partition layouts, power, and communications locations, reflected ceiling plans, lighting designs materials selection, finishes and furniture layouts. Construction documents to include integration of local, state, and federal building and fire codes, and any other pertinent jurisdictional statues, regulations, and guidelines applicable to the interior space
  • Ensure the construction documents are signed and sealed by the Director of Architecture, and other associated design consultants as applicable to the project scope and jurisdictional requirements for filing with code enforcement officials
  • Support Iskalo Construction Management Group during bidding and construction phases
  • Provide interior architectural design project management including preparation of project budgets and schedules in coordination with Iskalo Development’s Construction Management Group
  • Oversee installation of finishes and furnishing to verify accuracy of products delivered and their proper placement. This consists of periodic site visits during installation, by means of collaborating with the field superintendent regarding the scheduling of delivery and installation
  • Conduct post-occupancy evaluation reports
  • Preparation and filing of as-build drawings for the completed space including an interior finishes and furnishings binder which includes illustrations, specifications, and samples for future project reference
Other Responsibilities
  • Manage the Iskalo Architectural Interiors team members including delegation of work assignments, mentoring of staff, evaluation and recommendation of staff levels and types, performance reviews of staff and participation in recruitment of new staff, and developing and overseeing interior team project budgets.
  • Maintain a positive image of Iskalo Development Corp. and its affiliates at all times
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills
  • Competency with latest version of AutoCAD Architectural Desktop/Revit, Photoshop and Sketch-up; Microsoft Office Suite, project scheduling software, spreadsheet software and word processing
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks, and provide timely response to all project stakeholders, ensuring projects are on time and within budget
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with peers and colleagues
  • A motivated, self-starter who works well independently or as part of a team
Physical Demands
  • Work performed in modern, well-lit office setting
  • Use of standard office equipment (phone, computer, copier, fax) in addition to trade tools
  • Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle during work hours
  • Frequent local travel to job sites and affiliate properties
  • Ability to walk, bend, lift, stand, sit, and work at computer for extended periods of time
