Position Summary
The Property Management Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting operations of a commercial real estate portfolio, ensuring accurate financial reporting for properties, tenants, and ownership entities. This role involves managing GL reconciliations, preparing monthly property financials, and assisting with budgets, audits, and reporting to the Controller.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and property accounting principles.
- Experience with property management/accounting software (e.g., Sage, MRI, Yardi, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, focus on Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Record and reconcile property-related transactions, including rent, common area maintenance (CAM), property taxes, and insurance.
- Maintain tenant ledgers: post rent payments, late fees, and other charges, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain and Reconcile Property/Entity General Ledger accounts.
- Prepare and review monthly property financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
- Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of annual CAM and real estate tax escalations/settlements.
- Reconcile bank accounts, security deposit accounts, and escrow accounts.
- Prepare and Reconcile Job Cost Schedules
- Create & Maintain Job Cost Project Identifiers
- Support property managers with tenant billing, collections, and lease compliance.
- Assist with annual property budgets and reforecasts.
- Prepare supporting documentation for internal/external audits and owner reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Skills
- CAM reconciliation experience.
- Exposure to multi-property or portfolio accounting.
- CPA or progress toward CPA designation.
Physical Demands
- Work performed in a modern, well-lit office setting.
- Use of standard office equipment (phone, computer, calculator, copier).
- Occasional local travel to affiliate properties (driver license and use of personal vehicle).
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting (of up to 25 pounds) requires the ability to bend and lift. Must work at computer for extended periods of time.
Salary
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.50 – $31.25/hr.
